So far season 5 have proven itself to be amazing. Questions are being answered though each episode leaves us with more. Widmore was an Other. Who knew! How did he get off the island? Did he have to? Did Ben force him to leave and if so why is he so eager to find the island? Is Ellie who we met for the first time last night, Faraday’s mother or let me take a shot at this….maybe Penny’s mother? I am also thinking that Charolette is child of an Other and she is some how traveling back to when she already existed therefore dying because of screwing with the rules of time travel. Loved how Desmond named his son after the guy that gave his life to save everyone. I have so much more I could write about but don’t have the time!

Lost Season 5 Episode 3

Do I have a nose bleed?
Wow. Last nights episode(s) were fantastic! I am still a little confused. Actually I am VERY confused! Are our Losties bouncing through time or is the island? I figure if the island was traveling through time and popping up wherever, whenever, the hatch would stay exploded, the camp would still be there, etc. I would think everything would remain intact. The fact that we were shown the twin jet crashing but also stuck in the tree leads me to believe just the people are traveling through time and not the island. Then I think about it and that does not make sense either. So I have no idea what is going on and that is why I LOVE Lost.
The best parts of the premiere were….
-Ben scaring Hurley and Hurley hurling the Hot Pocket.
-Faraday in 1970’s Dharma era island…. is he going to stop the drilling? No he can’t because it would mess with the “rules.”
-Sun alluding to the fact that she may become a villain! I am thinking she could possibly be the “economist” It would be great to see her character become evil.
-Weekend at Bernies Sayid and Hurley’s I heart my Shi Tzu shirt. Does that shirt have any hidden meaning? I doubt it but still funny nonetheless.
-The off island Dharma computer/cartography station complete with Mrs Hawking wearing some sort of Druid robe. I don’t think she is Faraday’s mom, though last night I did until Desmond did not come to her door. What is with the 70 hrs? Maybe they are all in the same are? Or is that when the event will occur or end? I don’t know!!!!
I cannot wait until next Wednesday night! Until then I will stay very confused!!!!

Movie prices have gotten out of control. So much so, that we really have to decide what movie is worth the insane cost of admission. Times are tough. I don’t want to shell out money for just anything. Hollywood should be making better films….Marley and Me was an ok book but a movie???? Really??? Don’t even get me started about stuff like Bride Wars or worse yet that movie that I can’t think of the name but have seen the previews all week….something like he doesn’t like you or stop calling or whatever. More like crap I will never pay to see ever! Take that! Anyway, I did spend money to see Gran Torino in the theater and I am glad that I did! Clint proves yet again that he is the MAN! Go see this now!
Summer 2008 Movie Nerdiness

This summer the movies are definitely for the nerds. First there was Iron Man, next was The Incredible Hulk, and soon there’ll be Hancock, The Dark Knight, X Files, among many others. I’ll definitely be spending many a hot afternoon in the cool air conditioned theater. Never paying full price, of course. I already stocked up on the movie passes at Costco.
So now I will review The Incredible Hulk….
I know a lot of people thought that it was less then Incredible and I have to strongly disagree. It was a summer popcorn movie and one of Marvel’s better films. I can say it was a million times better then Indiana Jones!
Edward Norton was perfect as Bruce Banner. It was nice to see an actor who isn’t normally an action hero play the role. Reminiscent of Bill Bixby if only because you wouldn’t expect him to turn into the Hulk. It works, ya know. The action was much more intense then in the original and the Hulk looked like the Hulk not some weird cartoony version of said hero. So far I think Stan Lee’s cameo was the best he has done so far though I would have loved to see his eyes turn green.
Yes, I do realize that I don’t really “review” movies. I just kinda go on and on about nothing. So what I am trying to say is if you want a fun movie and you dig comics, go and see the Hulk! It’s worth at least the price of a matinee.
Also…
Hey Marvel, thanks for finally getting your act together and making decent comic book movies! We need more films like Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk! It helps me forget about the trash that was The Fantastic Four and Spider-Man 3.

The Omega Man (1971) I Am Legend (2007)

We picked up the Blu-Ray edition of The Omega Man since we found out it was based on I Am Legend. We watched this movie then ran out an hour later to see I Am Legend. After the movie I re-read I Am Legend. Here is what I think about everything:
After watching both movies I would have to say my favorite would be The Omega Man. It is campy and a little outdated. L.A. really looked like the apocalypse hit. Great lines from Charelton Heston. The Family is a creepy set of villains too! I don’t think this movie would work without Heston.
I Am Legend had an interesting take on how humans were wiped out. Science, not war. The “monsters” were scary and had very little human characteristics. This movie is “loosely” based on the book. I found a few faults but I still enjoyed it.
The book is great. I like how Neville isn’t a scientist or doctor. He is a simple man stuck in a strange situation. He could very well be the last human. It’s a tragedy with vampires. Definitely worth a read.
Juno (2007)

The older woman who gave us our tickets did not like Juno at all. She made it clear that she saw it the night before and did not approve of it. I don’t know if she was trying to talk us out of seeing it or just wanted to make us feel strange. Well despite all that, my husband and I loved Juno. I really don’t think it was something to disapprove of. It was a funny story about teen pregnancy and adoption. It’s real life, get over it.
The dialog is great. Did you know you fetus has fingernails. Fingernails!!!! The soundtrack is pretty good too. I am seriously addicted to Velvet Underground’s I’m Sticking to You

The “true” star of Juno is of course the hamburger phone. It’s a big scene stealer. The hamburger phone has got to be the greatest novelty phone ever!!! Anyone know where I can get one? If so buy it for me

Not as good as Anchorman but pretty darn close. Walk Hard is well worth the price of a bargain matinee ticket.
No Country For Old Men (2007)

We ended up seeing No Country For Old Men last night. The first thing that I have to say is how over-hyped this movie is. I love the Coen Brother’s films and well this isn’t their best cinematic effort. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the adaptation from the novel to the screen, as I did not read the book.
The first half of the movie is awesome then it falls flat. The action ceases and we see very little of the villain. I don’t think Tommy Lee Jone’s character was important to the film other then how he fit into the title. His boring speech with his father (?) was so long and drawn out.
I would suggest seeing this during a bargain matinee or waiting until you can pick up for a dollar at the Red Box. The villain is awesome as is the first half of the film. Other then that the dialog is drawn out and boring with a capital B.
Great movie. This is not a love story that the trailer makes it out to be. It is a straight up Russian mob movie. Great plot and acting. Go see it!!!
Bioshock (XBOX 360)

Early this morning I finished playing Bioshock. I found the game to be overall great though the last battle was pretty lame. I will not get into that for fear of spoiling the game. It is definitely worth picking up if you have the time to play because it is very addicting. So addicting that I finished it in 5 days, something I never do. The scenery is gorgeous and the characters are very creepy. I can also say that I am happy that I have read both The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged in the past (you’ll get the in game references if you have ever read any Ayn Rand books). I also ended the game not having to harvest any of the little sisters. Yay for getting the good ending! Now I just have to go back and get all of the achievements that I missed but that will have to wait for another time.
